My personal experience with this abusive nursing behavior has occurred not only as a new grad nurse, but throughout my entire career as a new employee, a new transfer or as a required float to a different department. It has also occurred, but much less often, as an agency nurse; however, I then had the option of not returning to that employer without fear of losing my position. Please share your experiences with this unfortunate truth. If you are a health care professional that participates in this bullying behavior, this blog is not for you. It is for your victims.

I came across this book when doing research on employee abuse and ostricizing. Although half of the content deals with “the silent treatment”, the psychology around being the perpetrator and the victim of this treatment is accurate for what happens in toxic work environments. There sections on bullying behavior as well. On the Google books site, you can read excerpts from quite a few pages. What I have read so far was very enlightening.
